Motorists who use petrol will be flocked to the pumps before midnight yesterday to avoid the 17-cents a litre increase in the price.
But those who have diesel vehicles waited till today when a decrease of between 11-and-a-half- and 12-and-a-half-cents comes into effect.
Minerals Department spokesperson Bheki Khumalo has admitted that the department had made a mistake when it initially announced a 16-cents rise in the petrol price and a slightly higher diesel decrease.
The 12-cents reduction in the price of illuminating paraffin has not been changed.
