Police are requesting assistance from the public in connection with the hijacking incident that took place at Noluthando School for the deaf, in Khayelitsha.
Police spokesperson Captain Anneke Van Der Wyver said that while the driver of the bus was preparing the vehicle to collect the children, he was approached by three unknown men.
“They produced a firearm and demanded the keys to the mini-bus, threatening to shoot him should he not commit to his demands,” said Van Der Wyver
According to police the driver handed over the keys to the suspects and they got into the vehicle which they drove off in.
“The mini-bus is white 2008 Quantum and the name Noluthando High School is printed on both sides, but it is believed that both names will be removed and the number plate could be changed,” added Van Der Wyver
Anyone with any information is requested to contact the Investigating officer, Inspector Christof Swart on 082 850 9791 or (021) 360 2397.
