The Department of Health has said that there is no need to panic despite the fact that swine flu has reached South Africa.
Today the first local case of the H1N1 virus was confirmed.
A 12-year-old boy who flew into the country from the United States over the weekend was diagnosed with the disease which has left over 160 people dead.
However the department said that the boy was admitted to hospital on Monday and is reportedly doing fine.
