The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union has welcomed the emphasis President Jacob Zuma placed on education in his State of the Nation address.
Sadtu supports Zuma’s condemnation of sexual abuse of learners by teachers.
It also applauded his commitment to the universal roll out of Grade R by 2014 and the encouragement of learners to complete their secondary education.
Sadtu also welcomed the fact that sports will become part of the mainstream curriculum.
