After a pipeburst early this morning in Voortekker Road, Kensington the City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Department says they are currently attending to the site assessing the extent of the damage.
A trunk water main which supplies a number of areas with potable water, burst in the early hours of the morning.
The first complaint was received at approximately 04h00 this morning.
The city’s Farouk Roberts says the pipeline was shut off shortly thereafter to prevent further water loss and damage.
“The areas impacted by the burst and are currently without water are Kensington, Factreton, Maitland, Pinelands, Thornton and Ndabeni,” Roberts said.
Roberts says an assessment is also being done to assess the possibility of re-routing water in the reticulation system in order to minimize the area of impact.
Residents are requested to ensure that their taps are closed during this period to prevent water loss or water damage.
