As part of police’s efforts to deepen their festive season crime prevention measures they conducted various suspect tracing operations which started last night until this morning.
The operations are aimed to ensure the safety and security of the people in the Western Cape.
Police spokesperson Captain Federick Van Wyk says operations were conducted in several suburbs in Worcester, Hermanus, Stellenbosch, Khayelitsha and Kuilsriver amongst others.
“These operations resulted in the arrest of 337 people for various crimes which include; outstanding warrants, robbery, shoplifting, trespassing and pointing of firearm charges,” said van Wyk.
Van Wyk says criminals can expect many more similar operations and actions in the days to come until they are satisfied with the crime situation.
“The attitude of the public was very positive during the operations and we would like to thank them for the co-operation we received,” added van Wyk .
Members of the communities are urged to immediately report illegal activities to their local police stations.
