Veteren Apartheid activist Fatima Meer died at the age of 81 years old at a Durban hospital yesterday.
Meer is known for her prolific writing as an academic and publisher and her activism in human rights and gender issues.
Former President Nelson Mandela has extended condolences to the family, describing Meer as “one of our best activists” .
