A construction worker is in a serious condition after falling 25 meters off scaffolding and into a water tanker under construction at a local water purification plant in Kokstad in Kwa-Zulu Natal earlier today.

“RES Q Med arrived on the scene and were directed to the location where the man was lying. The patient was in a serious condition. The patient had suffered possible head injuries along with neck and back injuries,” said ER24’s Derrick Banks.

Specialised equipment was used to support the man’s back and head before they placed him on a digger to lift him from the tanker.

“It is believed that the worker who was on the scaffolding at the time of the incident may have lost his footing and fell off the side into the water tank,” said Banks.

Police were on the scene and are investigating the incident.
