Four arrested for business fraud

Four people have been arrested for allegedly committing fraud related to VAT, Custom & Excise and fraud targeting the major Commercial Banks

Police spokesperson Inspector November Filander says nine residential and business premises were searched and large amounts of documentation and computer equipment was seized.

“The value relating to the fraud committed currently stands at R30 million and the actual loss has a potential value of as much as R800 million.

“The forty six year old man from Welgemoed was arrested yesterday at the Cape Town International Airport, after a warrant for his arrest was issued,” said Filander.

Filander added that there are certainly more arrests that are imminent subsequent to further investigation.

The suspects will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court soon.
