Metro police have brought back “Operation Choke” in the Athlone area, particularly in Kewtown.
Deputy Chief Yolanda Faro says this is after the community reported that it is tired of being kept ransom at the hands of gangsterism and drugs.
The officers made its presence felt immediately as they arrest ten suspects in just two days.
“Nine of the suspects were arrested when dagga, mandrax and TIK were found in their possession,” said Faro.
One suspect was arrested for fraud after he produced a fraudulent driver’s license at a vehicle check point.
Faro adds that fifty eight traffic fines were also issued at the same check point.
