Accused sentenced to twelve years imprisonment for armed robbery

A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to 12 years in jail for robbing a policeman of his service pistol and using the pistol to rob a woman.

Police spokesperson Nomathemba Muavha says Jerome Karlmeyer, was sentenced in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court in for the robberies he committed in 2006.

“The policeman he robbed of his pistol knew Karlmeyer and identified him as his robber.

“A day after robbing the policeman,, Karlmeyer pointed the service pistol at a woman and robbed her of two thousand rands, her cellphone and cigarettes,said Mauvha.

The Station Commander of SAPS Mfuleni, Colonel Luyanda Damoyi would like to take this opportunity to ensure the community that SAPS Mfuleni will leave no stone unturned in order to solve cases and rid the streets of perpetrators of crime added Mauvha.
