ANCYL critisises Manuel's "open letter"

The ANC Youth League has criticised Trevor Manuel's "open letter" to Jimmy Manyi regarding his remarks about coloureds in the Western Cape.

“It is a mystery because I must assume that you were elected as President of the Black Management Forum, without any familiarity with the history and constitution of that organisation; and that you were appointed as Director-General of the Department of Labour, without any familiarity with the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa or the legislation administered by the Department itself”, Manuel said in his letter.

The Youth League however says, it is disturbed because as far as they are concerned, Jimmy Manyi publicly apologised for those remarks and the ANC and most of society have accepted the apology.

Meanwhile, the Congress of South African Trade Unions has called for an immediate investigation into the conduct of Presidential spokesperson, Jimmy Manyi.

This after Manyi said the Western Cape had an over-concentration of coloured people.

Manyi has also come under fire from Minister in the Presidency, Trevor Manuel, who earlier called the former Labour Department head’s behaviour “racist in the worst order”.
