The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (Sadtu) said they will be discussing the issue of danager pay at the Bargaining Council.
Sadtu said the safety of teachers was a serious concern because of gangsterism and violence in problem schools.
Sadtu’s Mugwena Maluleke said “The issue here is that if there are schools that are really hot spots and are exposed to gangster attacks and all those particular things, there need to be negotiations around how we will then define the conditions for that particular payment”.
This discussion comes after several incident in schools with one student being stabbed and another pupil bringing a gun to school.
