The National Taxi Council will be going on with the taxi strike this week.
The taxi drivers are demanding that they stopped being harrased and the problem of their vehicles being impounded needs to be looked at.
Law enforcement officials will be increased along major routes to protect commuters.
Provincial transport spokesperson Solly Malatsi warned that violence will not be tolerated. He added that their first piority is to make sure that the commuters are safe.
