The Independent Complaints Directorate has concluded their investigation into the deaths of the French couple who went on the run near Sutherland earlier this year after killing a Northern Cape policeman.

ICD executive director, Francois Beukman, gave details about the deaths of Philippe Meniere and Agnes Jardel to a news conference in Parliament.

Meniere and Jardel were running from the police after shooting dead an officer and critically wounding another in Sutherland in the Northern Cape.

Beukman says that the autopsies revealed that the couple died as a result of close range high velocity gun shot wounds to the head.
