It is not surprising that unemployment went up to 25-percent in the first quarter of this year.
This is according to Tony Healy, a labour lawyer based in Johannesburg.
Healy says he expects the latest unemployment figure from Statistics SA to increase further and only stabilise in mid-2012.
He says government is taking genuine steps to stimulate job creation, but adds that more still needs to be done.
Meanwhile, another labour analyst, Michael Bagraim, says the latest unemployment figures will not have come as much of a surprise to business-owners.
He says government has really only succeeded in hampering economic growth through its policy decisions.
