The National Consumer Forum says it will be very difficult for consumers to cope with the excessive municipal tariff increases.
The increase was announced last week.
From today, many will be paying around 20-percent more for electricity, the third increase by Eskom since 2008.
Forum spokesperson, Ina Wilken says these tariff hikes will make it impossible for consumers to pay for the basics.
