Vodacom says sabotage can be blamed for the recent disruptions to its network coverage.
The cellular operator’s chief executive Pieter Uys says at least two sections of its underground fibre optic network were damaged.
This resulted in a snowball effect that left many of its customers unable to SMS or call.
Uys says investigations into the disruptions continue.
