The SA Rugby Union has come under fire for importing Springbok supporter clothing from China. Cosatu says Saru clearly has no regard for job creation and is rather focused on short-term profits.
Cosatu provincial chairperson Tony Ehrenreich says this kind of attitude is what has no doubt caused the slow pace of development and transformation in South African rugby.
Ehrenreich says Cosatu remains a firm supporter of the Springboks, but he added that Saru’s apparent disregard for local workers dampens their enthusiasm.
“We remain loyal supporters of the National team, but this act does dampen our enthusiasm as workers are the losers by Saru actions,” said Ehrenreich.
