The George municipality has confirmed that, as of 3pm on Wednesday, seven people were declared deceased regarding the building collapse in Victoria Street. There are 36 patients retrieved, seven of the 36 are deceased, 16 are in a critical condition and 6 are facing life-threatening injuries, 39 of the 75 construction workers remain unaccounted for.

specialised asbestos removal company is currently tasked with deconstructing
the old parking structure located at the back of the site. This is to aid access for rescue operations
which continue at the building collapse site on Victoria Street,” said Chantel Edwards, George Municipality spokesperson.
