Arson suspected at Statistics SA’s offices
A man has been arrested for allegedly deliberately setting fire to Statistics South Africa's Cape Town offices last night. The fire apparently destroyed equipment and documentation before it was dowsed by the fire brigade. Stats SA has offices on the ninth floor of the Absa building in Adderley Street. Stats SA spokesperson Hilgard Matthews has confirmed that the fire gutted their human resources office at the premises. The man arrested will appear in court soon.
