Gang warfare claims yet another life on the Cape Flats
Cape Flats gang violence has claimed another life. Jason Bester was gunned down in a drive-by shooting outside his home in Hanover Park this morning. He was reportedly shot in the back. Police spokesperson Randall Stoffels said from the scene that a suspect has been arrested. It is not yet clear whether today’s slaying can be linked to yesterday’s killing of a suspected gang leader from Hanover Park in a shootout in the parking area of a shopping complex in Kenilworth. Twenty-eight-year-old Gavin Atkins’ girlfriend was wounded in yesterday’s incident. Violence between rival gangs has claimed the lives of at least eight people in the last two weeks.
