Security guards' strike may be over
Fourteen trade unions representing security guards have ruled out further strike action after they reached an agreement with employers late Saturday night. Workers marched recently in several cities over a wage dispute and working conditions. Saturday night’s agreement has reportedly secured a wage increase of 24 percent over the next three years, with an average increase of eight percent per year. Satawu is the only union that has not yet signed the agreement as the officials who were supposed to attend the meeting are overseas. Satawu represents half of the workers in the security sector.
