Young fisherman drowns off Hout Bay
The National Sea Rescue Institute found the body of a young Hout Bay fisherman on the rocks near Oudeskip on Sunday morning. NSRI Hout Bay station commander Brad Geyser says the small crayfish boat that the 19-year-old Leroy Phillips and his brother Fabian went out in on Saturday night, capsized between Hout Bay and Llandudno. Fabian managed to swim to shore and alert rescue services. Geyser says rescue teams had to search for a few hours before finding Leroy’s body submerged in the surf and trapped between rocks. Geyser says that the body has been recovered.
