ANC stays mum about Zuma’s fate
The ANC has refused to give any indication when it would release a statement about Jacob Zuma’s political future, despite huge media interest. The party met in Kempton Park last night and there was speculation that a heated debate could be expected over Zuma’s position. According to reports guards at the entrance to the Esselen Park training centre told reporters that they had strict instructions to keep the media at least 50 metres away. Zuma withdrew from duties as deputy president of the ANC when he was charged with rape, but has since been found not guilty. President Thabo Mbeki released him from his post as deputy president of the country, pending his corruption trial in July.
