Judge Van der Merwe not afraid to rule on Zuma trial
Judge Willem van der Merwe, who will rule in the Jacob Zuma rape case on Monday, says he is not afraid of the answer that will be sent into the world. The verdict in the Johannesburg High Court will be broadcast live on television. Judge Van der Merwe has acknowledged to the media that the upcoming verdict puts extra pressure on him, but he believes that once he gets going on Monday everything will go smoothly. He says for him the most important factor of the trial remains that on Monday and the days following he should be able to live with his conscience and the end result. Judge Van der Merwe says he has listened to everyone’s evidence without prejudice.
