South Africa and Sudan sign a bilateral agreement
South Africa and Sudan have signed a bilateral economic development agreement in Cape Town. Addressing the media after the signing, Foreign Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said it was of vital interest for Africa that peace should return to the Sudan. Dlamini-Zuma said the country was coming out of conflict, but would slide back into civil war if there was no development and meaningful reconstruction. After more than 20 years of civil war, most of the warring factions there have signed a peace agreement.
