Finance, Economic Development and Tourism MEC Alan Winde says the final functioning of the province’s Liquor Act should take place before the end of the year.
Only certain sections of the act have been made official, including regulations allowing for the crack down on retailers who supply illegal shebeens and the closure of illegal shebeens.
The city’s liquor by-law also aims to limit trading hours within the act’s parameters.
