72 suspects were arrested in Nyanga at the weekend, for charges ranging from possession of unlicensed firearms, drunken driving, possession of stolen property and dagga.
A 47 year old male from Nyanga was also arrested after he allegedly raped his girlfriend’s 10year old daughter.
The arrests come after police conducted a two day operation in the area.
Captain Ntomboxolo Sitshitshi says the weekend operations made a big impact ,and in Nyanga ,there was only one murder committed.
A 22 year old man and his twin brother were allegedly shot by a friend in Oliver Tambo Drive, Samora Machel.
The deceased was shot in the head and died in hospital, while his brother was shot in the arm but has been released from hospital.
Police are still searching for the suspect.
“The deceased is a wanted suspect in a murder, attempted murder as well as house robbery cases.
“He was also involved in other cases of possession of an unlicensed firearm, assault, attempted murder,” said Sitshitshi.
