Newsflash has reported that the African National Congress has distanced itself from comments attributed to its spokesperson Brian Sokutu, regarding the declaration of President Jacob Zuma’s interests.
This is after Sokutu commented that it was regrettable that Zuma had missed the parliamentary deadline for the declaration and blamed the President’s large family for the delay.
But ANC national spokesperson Jackson Mthembu now says Sokutu’s comments had been made in total breach of ANC protocol and without any consultation with the leadership.
Mthembu says the matter will be dealt with through its disciplinary procedures.
He also regrets the inconvenience caused to Zuma and his family.
