62 motorists were arrested for drunk driving during roadblocks set up in Philippi East, Nyanga and Khayelitsha at the weekend.
Metro Police Deputy Chief Yolanda Faro says 20 drunk drivers were arrested in Philippi East and 42 in Nyanga.
Faro said City traffic services will continue to crack down on drunk drivers.
“Our members will act against drunk driving on our roads and we will continue with roadblocks in all our operational areas.
“It’s since the festive season calmed down, there is an obvious increase in drunk driving cases which we cannot allow,” said Faro.
