Six suspects are due to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court tomorrow facing armed robbery charges.
The suspects were arrested on Monday after they were caught by undercover members of the hawks and police trying to rob at a fast food in Beach Front, Table View.
Police’s Captain Frederic Van Wyk says they received information from the members of the public.
“The suspect's Silver Toyota Corolla was spotted where four males exit the vehicle and entered the premises,” said Captain Van Wyk.
He adds they noticed the staff being pointed with a firearm and money being demanded.
A struggle ensued between staff and the robbers, but the robbers fled the premises without money.
Van Wyk says outside the shop they arrested two of the suspects.
The other two suspects fled the scene and police gave chase.
“Several shots were fired at the vehicle where it came to a halt at the corners of Race Course & Otto Du Plessis road in Milnerton and we arrested the two,” said Van Wyk.
The other two suspects were arrested after pointed out by the complainant.
