Swift action of Woodstock police led to the arrest of a suspect for attempted housebreaking in Erica Street yesterday.
Sergeant Hilton Malila says police were conducting routine stop and search patrols in the area, when they received information of a housebreaking in progress.
On arrival at the residence, police spotted the suspect trying to gain entry to the house.
“When the suspect spotted the police, he tried to flee on foot but was apprehended in minutes by police and the assistance of security members,” said Malila.
The 35 year old suspect is in police custody.
He will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court tomorrow on charges of attempted housebreaking and theft.
