Negotiations to end a three-week-long drivers’ strike at Johannesburg Metrobus have deadlocked.
Metrobus spokesperson Esther Dreyer says drivers affiliated to the SA Municipal Workers’ Union want to be allowed to choose their shifts before other employees.
Dreyer says the company is not prepared to give the striking drivers preferential treatment.
The three-week strike has seen services being suspended inconveniencing many communters.

Get rid of these striking drivers, there are plenty of people who want to work. And why should an entire fleet of over 430 non striking drivers be threatened? As a commuter I feel cheated by these actions, no one is going to reimburse my tag fees or the taxi fares that are I'm currently using. What rubbish that the union drivers want to choose their shifts! Utter nonsense - enough is enough!
