Two suspects have been arrested for house robbery after gaining entry through the window in Brittanica Heights in St Helena Bay.
Police spokesperson Captain Thembela Mgudlwa says four males entered the house while the home owner was still asleep; she heard noises inside the house and she switched on the light to investigate, the suspects grabbed her and tied her hands and mouth.
“The suspects demanded money, took one rifle, two shot guns, two pistols and an undisclosed amount of cash. They then locked her in the garage and fled with her vehicle.
“She later managed to free herself and alert the St Helena Bay SAPS. The members responded immediately and on patrol they spotted the identified vehicle and a car chase ensued,” said Mgudlwa.
Mgudlwa says the suspects fired shots at police, who returned fire. The suspect’s vehicle came to a halt and the suspects fled on foot in a nearby field, abandoning the vehicle. Police managed to recover four of the five stolen firearms.
SAPS immediately launched a manhunt and later managed to arrest two of the four suspects. The search for the other two suspects continues added Mgudlwa.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the two suspects can contact the St Helena Bay SAPS on 021- 736 6108 or Crime Stop on 08600 1011.
