The three accused in the so-called Paparas drug trial have been acquitted in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
Steve Paparas, his father Dimitro, and their driver, Stanley Poonin, had been arrested after a massive drugs bust at a warehouse in Alberton, in 2006. Magistrate Deon Synman said the State had failed to prove its case against the trio.
Former top cop Jackie Selebi, who was found guilty of corruption last year, also had ties to the bust.
