A tsunami alert has been issued for north-eastern Japan.
This follows an earthquake measuring seven-point-four on the Richter scale struck 40-kilometres out to sea.
A tsunami wave one-metre high has been predicted and people on the coast have been advised to move to higher ground.
The area is still recovering from an earthquake and tsunami that struck early last month.
