Eastern Cape Traditional Affairs MEC Mlibo Qoboshiyana has slammed people masquerading as traditional circumcision doctors.
He is upset about reports that some of these bogus doctors are charging initiates up to R1 600 for the traditional practice.
Qoboshiyana visited circumcision schools in the Nyandeni district following a spate of deaths linked to illegal initiation schools.
The MEC says government, traditional leaders and communities should work together to stop illegal circumcisions.
