President Jacob Zuma is on a working visit to the Russian Federation today.
He will participate in the meeting of the International Contact Group on Libya on behalf of the African Union.
Zuma was invited by the Russian Federation to report back on the AU’s efforts to find a peaceful and lasting solution to the conflict in Libya.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has brushed off a threat by the Libyan leader to attack civilians in Europe unless Nato ends its airstrikes on Tripoli.
Muammar Gaddafi told his supporters at a rally in the capital that “homes, offices and families'' in Europe will become legitimate targets for his military if Nato’s attacks continue.
Clinton says Gaddafi should rather step down and help facilitate a democratic transition that will meet the aspirations of the Libyan people.
