Cosatu has urged Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele to reject a recommendation for reduced toll tariffs for Gauteng's freeways.
The trade union federation says it remains opposed to the whole idea of e-toll roads.
The proposed reduced toll tariffs were released by the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project’s George Mahlalela on Thursday.
Cosatu says it is shocked that Mahlalela assumed that the principle of tolling had been accepted.
The Transport and Allied Workers' Union said yesterday the tolls would impose a huge additional burden on road users.
Satawu says it will have a devastating effect on workers who have no alternative but to drive to work because of a lack of proper public transport.
