More taxi violence in Cape Peninsula

Taxi violence has flared up again on the Cape Flats. Three passengers were wounded in two separate incidents when shots were fired in Mitchell’s Plain and Philippi. Police says that a 60-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man were wounded at the Promenade Taxi Rank near Mitchell’s Plain. Four men were arrested in connection with the shooting and a firearm was confiscated. A 40-year-old taxi driver was wounded when shooting broke out in Philippi. The shots were apparently fired by people in a car that drew up next to a taxi while passengers were alighting. Frightened residents of the area say they fear for their lives every time they make use of a taxi.
