By Megan Hartogh

The Sex Worker Education and Advocacy Taskforce (SWEAT) has called on the Paarl Regional Court to hand down its maximum sentence on Clifford Norval. Norval allegedly murdered sex worker Ellenore Leander on April 1st. According to reports, Leander’s body, which had been stabbed 19 times, was found outside Norval’s mother’s home on April 2nd.SWEAT, along with organizations from around the world – including the Committee on Rights of Sex Worker’s , Trust and Childline – are calling for Norval to receive life imprisonment for Leander’s murder. SWEAT believes that this should be done in an attempt to show that murder and gender based violence is unacceptable.
