The South African Human Rights Commission is concerned about the tensions between the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and the Police.
“Our view is that with this tension, it undermines the confidence of the public in the criminal justice system which is quite crucial in the fight against crime in our country,” says Chief Executive Officer of the Human Rights Commission, Tseliso Thipanyane.
He added that the Commission calls on the Police and the NPA to act in accordance with our constitutional imperatives and values, and to use their power in the interest of the people.
“We call upon the political leadership of our country to ensure that there is harmony within our criminal justice system,” added Thipanyane.
