The Cape Town Housing Company will officially open the Highlands Village housing project in a launch in Mitchell’s Plain today.
The Housing Company is a social housing institution funded and owned by the National Housing Finance Corporation.
It was launched in May 1998, and seeks to achieve bigger and better quality housing for qualifying low- income earning citizens.
The launch will take place at Highlands Village Mitchell’s Plain, near Westgate Mall, from noonday.
It is expected that of the 321 units in the project, 238 will be handed over to their new owners.
Five owners will receive their keys during Thursday’s ceremonial opening.
Executive Mayor of Cape Town Dan Plato is expected to give a key note address during the event.
