Metro rail employees under United Transport and Allied Trade Union, UTATU will embark on a strike on Monday.
The strike comes after many meetings were held between UTATU and Metrorail representatives came into a halt.
“We took the 7.5% Metrorail was offering us and we took it to our members and they rejected it”.
“We met with Metrorail CEO but still that meeting did not produce anything that we were looking for. Metrorail is under the elusion that just because they had an agreement with SATAWU and we will also accept that,” said UTATU general secretary Chris De Vos.
We know commuters will be inconvenienced but there is nothing that we can do until they meet our demands will strike added Vos.
