The dispute between the students and the management of the university at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology has been resolved.
“A resolution was taken to appoint a two person committee to investigate the concerns raised by all parties and to report back in two weeks time,” said the university's spokesperson Thami Nkwanyane.
The parties all agreed that, the members of the committee will be independent and external to the institution.
The names proposed were accepted by all parties.
“Based on the outcome of this Council meeting, normal activities will resume on Tuesday, 11 August 2009,” confirmed Nkwanyane.
Last week, students from both Cape Town and Bellville campuses were protesting against the fee increament for 2010 and classes were suspended.
