Correctional Services Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula says action will be taken against Schabir Shaik if he is found guilty of assaulting a journalist at a Durban golf course last week.
Shaik, a convicted fraudster, is currently out on medical parole because he is reported to be terminally ill.
The Minister told a news conference in Johannesburg that it is not yet known if Shaik violated his parole. She says an investigation is underway.
