NSRI warns of rough seas this weekend
The NSRI at Shelley Beach in KwaZulu/Natal were called out twice on Saturday to go to the assistance of boats that had engine problems. Nine people were brought to safety after the engines on the nine metre Mighty Awesome failed while the craft was some three nautical miles of St Michael’s-On-Sea. The rescue craft Caltex Endeavor had to be launched through rough waves a second time a few hours later to go to the rescue of the crew and five German divers on the Shaka Zulu belonging to African Dive Adventures. NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon appealed to boat owners and swimmers to be extremely careful all around the coast this weekend during the full moon springtide.
