An Armed Robbery took place in a taxi in Voortrekker Road in Goodwood this morning. It is alleged that two men who were passengers in a taxi demanded money from the driver. After the taxi driver refused, one of the men shot him.
“Two passengers demanded money from him. When he refused to hand over the money, one of them drew a fire arm and shot the driver in his left side. They then fled on foot with R200 and a cell fone belonging to the driver. The driver died on scene,” said Goodwood Police department’s Inspector Wayne Theunis.
Theunis appeals to the other passengers in the taxi, who witnessed the incident, to come forward as any leads relating to the case would be helpful. A case of murder is under investigation by the Goodwood Police Department.
Anyone with information can contact the Investigating Officer, Captain Kallie Rix at the Goodwood Police station on (021) 597 1760 or (021) 597 1803.
