Well known Cape Town’s female prisoners Najwa Petersen and Dina Rodrigues were among other offenders who celebrated Women’s Day at the Breede River prison near Worcester yeaterday.
Petersen is serving 28 years for the murder of her husband Taliep Peterson and Rodrigues is on a life sentence for hiring four hitmen to murder a six month old baby.
Speaking at the event Judge Seraj Desai, who sentence Petersen in the Cape High Court last year, told the audience of female offenders that all women belong with their families and children.
However,Judge Desai assured that no woman will be imprison a day longer than necessary.
Both inmates have appealed and they were turned down.
